Advice for looking after your hair during lockdown

We understand that some of our clients are concerned about the condition of their hair and hair colour during this extended period of isolation.  However, this is a great opportunity to try out different hairstyles and get your hair looking and feeling as healthy as possible.

Janene Bush, owner of Heavenly Hair, shares her tips for using this time wisely to focus on hair care.

  • A temporary root concealer spray is the quickest way to hide those grey roots. Try using the sprays and powders that can be found in Boots and the supermarket. You can also hide roots by staggering the parting so it’s not a straight line, aim for a zigzag

  • As you are home, styling your hair with a hairdryer or any other heat styling tools like straighteners etc. should be avoided.   Take the opportunity to give you hair and scalp a rest.  If you want to create some loose waves, try braiding your hair overnight

  • Brush your hair at least twice a day - once during the morning before you head out of your bedroom and once at night before you go to sleep. Brushing your hair with a wide-toothed comb keeps your hair healthy and tangle-free

  • Pamper your locks. Take a look at this link to Good Housekeeping magazine, there are lots of ‘recipes’ for home DIY masks, which will have your hair feeling amazing in no time. https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/beauty/hair/g29627145/diy-hair-masks/

  • When it comes to washing your hair, less is definitely more! Whilst in lockdown, try washing your hair every three days, washing your hair less helps preserve the scalps natural oils.  Rather than washing, you could try a dry shampoo to soak up some of the grease and leave you with cleaner, fresher hair.

And don’t forget, if you’re running low on any of the products we stock at the salon, we are happy to deliver to clients nearby.

This period will pass and we can’t wait to see you, whether it’s for a trim, hair colour or complete restyle!
